The Eye BLIND Spot
All of us have a Blind Spot in our vision.
That Blind spot can mean the difference between avoiding an accident or having one.
OR it could be the difference between life and death.
I am concerned with the amount of children who are killed on the roads in Australia.
Perhaps it's the same in the country where you live?
Everyone needs to be educated about how the blind spot occurs and how you can be safe from accidents.
The important thing is, STOP - LOOK - LISTEN!
TAKE YOUR TIME....
If you were to actually measure the time when you do this, you would discover it is not longer than a minute or two.
And what is, perhaps even five minutes of waiting, compared to a life.
It's when you are in a hurry that an accident is waiting to happen.
And when you do hurry, you may not even ever get to where you want to go.
Please click on the link below and check to see how real your blind spot is.
Please, also educate every child you know by getting them to see this for themselves.
It may save a life.

Diabetes Type 2 Are you the next candidate?
Diabetes Type 1 is from Childhood.
Are you one of the next in line to contact Diabetes Type 2?
Diabetes (raised blood sugar) is a mystery illness that creeps up.
Type II is from ages 40 and over.
Symptoms of this are:
Frequent hunger (polyphagia).
This prevents the body from absorbing needed glucose.
Frequent urination (polyuria).
This happens when excess sugar molecules end up in the kidney's.
Water follows these molecules, increasing urination.
Frequent thirst (polydipsia). This causes you to dehydrate.
**There will be times when your Blood Sugar Level actually drops.
When it does, you will experience the following symptoms.
Hunger
Shakiness
Nervousness
Sweating
Dizziness or light-headiness
Sleepiness
Confusion
Difficulty speaking
Anxiety Weakness
When this occurs, have ONE of the following. Apple or orange juice. Milk or lemonade. Or some candy. These will raise your sugar.
These problems can also occur during sleep.
Some signs of hypoglycaemia (low sugar) during sleep include.
Crying out or having nightmares
Excessive perspiration.
Feeling tired, irritable, or confused on waking.
Buy the Book: it is excellent and explains it all in a simple manner. It also tells you how to combat it. In Australia it can be purchased from Health Food Stores.

Also, cuts and sores take longer to heal and may lead to a more serious condition.
Added to this is the stress. You may become depressed, suffer anxiety, and have fuzzy head feelings as if you are going crazy.

MASSAGE: After Knee Replacement
Photo of surgery after a knee replacement (this is not my knee).
Tendons and Muscles at Front of Knee
At Back of Knee.
As many of you know, I am recovering from a Total Knee Replacement.
The pain has been worse than I imagined.
Yes, I am on medication for that, and yet, the pain persists.
As a nurse I have to wonder WHY!
I get pain down the Tibia (lower leg bone).
Yet besides that, there is much pain in the back of and sides of the knee.
Have I had physical therapy?
Yes I have,... for the last two weeks, and will continue to exercise at home.
So for all you other Knee Replacements out there, I wish to share my theory and subsequent research.
I began to consider??
Prior surgery the person with knee pain begins to protect their painful joint.
Due to this, muscle wastage will likely occur.
Following surgery, those unused muscles begin to get, a heavy workout.
With the workout, pain will follow.
I began to consider Helen Keller and her discovery of massage in regard to polio patients.
Despite much who-ha of many medical experts of the time, that therapy helped many polio victims to regain active use of their limbs.
I also considered massage following leg vein stripping..
It is very beneficial in pain relief.
So I decided why not massage after a Knee Replacement.
The massage should never be done over the incision, but rather at the sides and back of the knee.
I began to massage today, and I believe, there is some relief.
Be careful what you use for this. I use Aloe Vera.
I am not here to tell you to do it for yourself.
But check it out and then decide.
Hopefully, after this time, a patient will have regained their range of motion.
Physical therapy should also help alleviate the pain.
Unfortunately, many patients are still in pain even after physical therapy is completed.
For some, the solution is massage therapy.
Below is how a Massage Therapist would do this.

In Case of Emergency * I.C.E.
This is so Important!!
Accidents happen, they are not meant to, but they do!!
Can you imagine you are in a Motor Vehicle Accident.
You arrive at the hospital in an ambulance with a few personal belongings.
You are in a state of shock, or worse still, unconscious.
Unless you are dead, or very badly injured, the police will probably not notify your family.
The staff in an Emergency Department are very busy people.
They are there to take care of you.
Perhaps even save your life.
They do not have time, to chase your relatives!
One Paramedic in Australia came up with a brilliant idea..
Most of us carry a cell phone.
On that cell phone we have a list of the people we Call.
And most of us have a long list, I know I do!!
So to help your family know about you, In Case of an Emergency.
Place I.C.E in front of at least three names to be contacted, should the need arise. It can be more than three..... but, It is important to have more than one.
There is not time in a busy hospital to keep phoning people who don't answer.
I.C.E. Your Phone Now.
If a phone is found in your possession it is likely names and numbers will be observed.
Even in countries other than Australia, I.C.E. in front of three names will be recognised as special.

Total Knee Replacement
As we age our body breaks down.
After the age of fifty the cartilage in the knee's wears out.
The reason for this is because the cells in the cartilage, no longer replenishes.
Not everyone will need knee replacement surgery.
As a very active person I never suspect I would be one of the many who would.
Following a bad fall, suedo gout developed in my left knee.
Other Reasons for Replacement may be, osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.
As constant pain, inflammation and swelling from these conditions, takes away a persons quality of life.
Total Knee Replacement is a surgery where the damaged sections of your knee joint are replaced with a prostheses.
In the operation the end of the femur and the Tibia and occasionally the underside of the patella are shaved off and the artificial parts (prostheses) are cemented into place.
The Benefit of Surgery is to hopefully reduce stiffness, pain and disability.
Good physical health prior the operation is important.
If you are a non smoker then this will benefit the healing process.
Oxygen is vital for feeding cells, which in turn promote good health.
The Surgery Process usually takes about two hours with the new joint being immediately solid.
Pain relief is required for the first few weeks and should be well maintained.
Complications are relatively few yet can happen. These being, bleeding, blot clots, infection, loosening of the prostheses from the bone, etc. I won't go into all of them, however, as with any surgery, care must be taken.
Strengthening the new knee.. Is an important process for success.
Physiotherapy will be required to assist your strengthen the weakened muscles and ligaments surrounding the new knee.
It can be frightening to trust in something unfamiliar.
Yet the more the new knee is used, the stronger it will become.
FEAR NOT and Follow Instructions.
Back home and be prepared. Many things around the house can hinder your well being and even cause complications.
An Occupational Therapist should check out how you will be living for at least the next two months of vital healing.
Is your bathroom non slip/skid safe?
Toilet seats need to be raised. That knee is to bend to only 90 degrees.
Rising from beds, lounges and seats needs to be by use of the arms to lift, not by pressure on the knees.
Loose floor mats, long curtains and bed valances, need be removed not to tip.
Care when maneuvering stairs on crutches.
No mid body turning and twisting of the knee!!!
And no driving the car until deemed safe.
Normal life again with low impact activities will keep that knee working well for many years.

STROKE (Cerebral Vascular Accident)
| The brain controls the way we move, think, speak, and eat. |
Stroke occurs when an artery supplying blood to a part of the brain suddenly becomes blocked or bleeds.
This can damage part of the brain, which in turn can impair a range of functions including movement of body parts and communication.
Some stroke risk factors can’t be controlled.
These include gender, age and family history.
However, many stroke risk factors are lifestyle related.
Everyone can reduce their risk of having a stroke by making a few simple lifestyle changes.
ARE YOU AT RISK OF SUFFERING A STROKE?
These Are The Risk Factors
Have regular exercise and if on medication always take it.
Cigarette smoking: When you smoke you are depleting your lungs of valuable oxygen.
Diabetes: Type two can be reversed by a low carbohydrate diet.
High fat, low fibre diet: Especially in those take-away meals.
Eat vegetables and fruit with skins. More fish and chicken and less red fatty meat.
Lack of exercise: Walk more.
I have tried to keep this very simple without going into long explanations. The importance is Life Style and Getting Help Fast. |

Skin Cancer - Herbal Remedy.
CANSEMA
I am only recommending this as I have used it successfully myself.
However, each idividual is responsible for themselves.
What is Cansema?
It is a tropical ointment that when applied to cancerous lesions on the skin, kills the cancer cells in the tissue.
It is the most advanced in the category of cancer killing ointments.
Application
It comes in a small plastic jar and is best applied using a toothpick and smoothing over affected area with care. It is a thick black paste that is easy to apply. Often there will be a tingling sensation following the application. Leave on for 24 hours, then carefully wash off surplus. Over the next few days the area will discolour and become angry looking. Gradually it will scab (do not pick) and eventually fall off and heal..
It took mine about three weeks for complete healing. This differs according to individuals.
It can look ugly so if you wish to cover with a band-aid thats fine, but renew this every second day and don't allow the area to become moist.
If you are a smoker, all healing takes longer as you are depleting your cells from their need for valuable oxygen.
Care
Never apply to or near, eye's, mouth, open skin or genital area.
Follow directions carefully.
Use with wisdom.
Where to buy this?
It can be purchased on-line.
You may wish to use it on a small affected area for the first time until you are satisfied with the result.
PLEASE WATCH THE YOU-TUBE VIDEO Below........

SHINGLES, cruel, painful and unnecessary.
Has someone you know had it???
You could be next??
How does one get this disease??
Shingles are a a disease many of us develop, and yet, we don't realize how or why.
A good view to understanding the Shingle process.
If you have been afflicted with the Chicken pox as a child, then you may very likely attain Shingles as an adult.
The Herpes virus remains dormant in the nerve cells of the body.
If a person's immune system runs low, they are a likely candidate to have this virus reignite.
Ages Affected?
Mostly over 50years of age.
Where is strikes!
It mainly effects the forehead and near one eye, or as a band around the body trunk.
OR... anywhere, but contained in that area.
It can cause blindness to the eye by harming the optic nerve.
Symptoms
Day 1. It begins with intense pain, and a burning or tingling sensation on the skin. The patient feels unwell and is not sure why? there is a beginning of pink/red marks on the skin.
Day 2. The marks are more predominant, now looking more like a rash.
Day 3. The rash has began to have bunches of small blisters that will gradually break and weep..
Do not delay at this point get to the nearest hospital or doctor, as fast as possible! There is a time interval when you must begin taking the specific ANTI-VIRAL medication.
This is very important, as it helps to ward off a much more serious attack and reduces the time length of infestation...
BUT....... YOU MUST GO AND GET THIS MEDICATION AS SOON AS THE THIRD DAY FOR COMPLETE EFFECT!!
How to treat
Besides the anti-viral treatment given by your doctor, make sure you commence taking B Complex vitamins as these help the central nervous system to recover.
Also apply an ointment that has a numbing effect containing an anesthetic to numb the pain, and antiseptic to stop inection...apply thickly over affected area's (ask your pharmacist) and wash hands thoroughly after use
Remember
If not properly cared for the first time. Shingles can return multiple times.
And can PAINFULLY remain for many months.
An injection to inoculate can prevent it all from happening.

And when I have no might, He increases my strength."

THALASSAEMIA How Hard For The Sufferer.
Never heard of it???
Well the predominent countries are, India, Pakistan and Iran with millions of sufferers.
Thalassemia minor is an inherited form of hemolytic anemia that is less severe than thalassemia major. This blood smear from an individual with thalassemia shows small, pale, variously-shaped (poikilocytosis) red blood cells.
These small red blood cells (RBCs) are unable to carry the sufficient amount of oxygen required by normal RBCs.Cells require oxygen (O2) to live, because O2 is what our body cells feed off.
Without O2, cells will starve and die. .
When you breath in air you get approximately 19- 21% O2 as you inhale.
Transported to your lungs it hops aboard the fresh blood's haemoglobin in RBCs pumped from your heart.
Via circulation it then gets transported all over your body to feed and revitalize billions of cells to keep you alive.
Treatment for these children is via a blood transfusion every month.
Without this treatment the sufferer would die.
And what about the children who's parents cannot afford this??
There is also a cure, but it is an expensive one, and not one that is readily available.
The cure is a Bone Marrow Transplant,
or for some, the Stem Cells from the mother.
Yet this is not a hundred percent success.
It is only for unrelated (donor registries) bone marrow donation that the age limit is much narrower, generally between age 20 and 40.
Money speaks, so donations are desperately needed.
This is a despairing disease and the sadness is.... many die.
Should the Lord place it on your heart to help then your donation would gratefully be appreciated.

Brain and Memory Booster "Glutamine"
If your memory isn’t as good as it used to be or your concentration is flagging and your mind is not so sharp.
You may be another victim of a widespread epidemic of brain drain.
While attending University this often happened to me, I'd be sitting in a lecture while my thoughts refused to focus..
No information seemed to get through.
I began to think I was one of over 4 million people beginning to suffer from age-related memory decline.
Today there is an increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease at any stage of life.
The good news is that mental decline is not inevitable and you can boost your memory and mental alertness at any age.
Research shows clearly that healthy, well-nourished and well-educated people (ha ha, we who Blog) show no signs of declining mental function with age.
Brain cells do die with age.
HOWEVER, you can also build new brain cells at any age.
How?
By feeding your brain, with the right nutrients and the right information.
So, keep that brain alert!!
Play brain games...
My mother at 93 still plays and wins at scrabble...
The frontal lobe is involved in conscious thought and higher mental functions such as decision-making.
The pre-frontal cortex plays an important part in processing Short-term memories and retaining Longer term memories which are not task-based.
The parietal lobe also plays a key role in the formation of long-term memory.
By using Multi B vitamins and L-Glutamine or glutamine, watch that memory improve.
These can be bought in any Health Food Shop, Walmart or Supermarket.
L-Glutamine saved me during exam time at Uni, I couldn't believe how alert my brain became..
So, that's my secret shared.

But of POWER, LOVE and a SOUND MIND."

Bipolar Testimonial- Lu R Truehope
If you are being treated with medications, please keep taking these.
Bi-polar is a very misunderstood Mental Illness.
Perhaps a family member has this illness without being aware.
Or perhaps you do?
There are two sides to this illness:
The mood swings, from extreme highs to extreme lows.
Insomnia is often the first indication that an episode is pending.
1) The Euphoria Stage, where life is manic and fast.
Symptoms: Highly sexual.
Excessive spending or giving away of possessions.
Increased energy and activity level promoting insomnia.
Inappropriate humour and behaviour.
Rapid speech (pressured).
Lack of insight (everyone else has the problem).
Grandiose, they are the greatest.
Hostility and Paranoia.
Delusions and Hallucinations
2) The Depressive Stage, when all the symptoms of depression surface.
At this stage the person can be suicidal.
I believe as with many of our health problems, diet plays a huge part.
Delete sugar from all foods (honey a good replacement).
Drink water.
Breath fresh air.
Meditate on the positive.
Use cognitive behaviour therapy to replace wrong thoughts with right ones. (Before getting to the stage where lack of insight prevents this.)
Build a faith in Jesus Christ realising how much He loves you.
He laid down His life, so that you might live.
You are special, you are beloved.
Special people have Mental Illnesses...but don't make this an excuse not to receive help.
It is most often, the illness of the intelligent.

Be prepared for some worsening of your symptoms, headaches or nausea, for a day or two - this is a good sign, as it means your body is successfully eliminating large quantities of dead yeast cells and their toxins from your body, and that you're on the road to recovery. Supplementing with milk thistle will help your liver break down these toxins, as will drinking plenty of water (drink at least two litres a day). You'll soon notice your symptoms disappearing and your 'brain fog' lifting - leaving you free to enjoy all that extra energy!
Avoid using:
- bath oils
- bubble baths
- deodorant soaps
- feminine hygiene sprays
- perfumed soaps

FAST Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Get that AIR in and get that Heart pumping.
Blood needs to circulate, to keep a person alive.
Heart attack is the most common cause of ventricular fibrillation.
(Uncoordinated contraction of the cardiac muscle of the ventricles).
Less common causes of cardiac arrest include:
Respiratory Arrest (loss of breathing function, as in Asthma, etc)
Choking,
Trauma,
Electrocution,
Drowning.
In recent years, CPR guidance has been revised to put more emphasis on chest decompressions for sudden cardiac arrest.
In 2008, the heart group said untrained bystanders or those unwilling to do rescue breaths could do hands-only CPR until paramedics arrive or a defibrillator is used to restore a normal heart beat.
This can be attained by pressing down on the patient's chest about 100 times a minute.
Compressing the chest of somebody whose heart has stopped ensures blood continues to flow, getting oxygen to the brain and other vital organs.
Without oxygen to the brain for five minutes, can result in brain death.
(This does not mean to stop compressions after this time!!
No... Keep Going!!!)
NEAR DROWNING and DRUG OVERDOSE
Prefered CPR with breaths....
Check patient quickly, and make sure of, no danger to self.
Place person quickly onto side.
Clear mouth of any article debre or vomit.
Roll onto back, with head tilted back.
Two quick Breath's
Thirty Compressions. Continue this until help arrives * *
ELECTROCUTION: Switch off power and use a broom or similar to knock person away from danger, prior attempting to give help.
Try and remain calm..
And, do your best.
You could make a difference.

Breath Free
New Therapy for those who suffer from respiratory problems.
I suffered from bronchitis and allergies for years.
So I understand this well.
Two of my children had asthma before the age of five.
They no longer have it today.
Desensitise your home!
No heavy curtains, carpet or indoor plants.
This helps against dust and fungi.
Not being able to breath properly produces fear.
From fear comes anxiety,
And with anxiety, hypo/hyperventilation occurs, causing added stress.
Drink water and take magnesium.
There is a natural help for breathing problems.
A wonderful salt therapy with excellent results.

Depression - The Way Out !!!!
Brain of a depressed person.
Depression. The Dark hole of no return...
The place where you feel...there is no escape.
I can speak of this not only as a clinician, but also as one who has suffered.
Coming out of a 30yr marriage I fell heavily into that pit of despair.
It can happen from Grief and Loss.
Loss of a marriage.
Loss of a relationship.
Loss of a Job.
Loss of a life when moving home to the unknown.
Closing a door on familiarity....
For many reasons, depression can invade the mind!
It makes you sad, to the point where nothing makes sense.
You want to bury your head and stay in bed.
Who cares about a shower?? No one likes you anyway!
Tears fall quickly and easily often for no apparent reason.
Life takes on a pattern of no meaning and of bleakness.
So you finally see a doctor and get put onto medications...
And, there is no return.
OR, is there????
I have fought this, and I have won...
How???
After assessing patients, and.....
After much research and experimenting on myself!
I hope this helps you also!
Firstly, some blood tests..
1.Women, how are your hormone levels? Low estrogen plays a role in depression!
2. Men/Women. Thyroid levels, Low levels cause depression!!
3. Diabetes. You may be a New Type 2 Diabetic without knowing??
(This can be reversed!).
Low water intake, can assist depression.
Vitamin and Mineral Depletion, can cause depression.
Taking 2 Magnesium every night.
Taking (morning) a Multi B or Mega B, rich in B6 and B12, AFTER FOOD!!
(without food may cause nausea)
Get those blood tests done. If hormone levels are depleted, take the meds required.
Cut out/or down on sugar. If you want sweetening, then replace with a little honey.
Drink more WATER. 6 glasses per day. (8 on a HOT day)
Take Magnesium capsules or tablets.
Take B6 and B12 vitamins (Multi B or Mega B)
Walk every day.... or swim, or whatever you can do, (elevates brain endorphins).
Get sufficient rest and sleep. (Magnesium will help relax muscles and nerves)
Watch funny videos and laugh often. (helps brain endorphins).
Meditate and fix your thoughts on what is good.
Watch only, good uplifting happy movies.
Mix with positive people.
Replace the negative thoughts for the positive.
Example:
Negative thought: My friend never comes over to visit me, they hate me..
Positive thought: Where is the evidence that my friend hates me? perhaps they are busy? I'll phone them and ask them over?? And I will understand if they are busy.

Check List for depression:
Remember the Kookaburra.....No home, only a tree.
No food unless he works to find it.
Yet, He laughs at Life...
LASTLY... it is not a sin if you still need to take medication. If something works well for you, then take it, but also help yourself with some of the above advice.

BURN-OUT
The phone rang.
"Crystal."
"Yes, its me." I replied happily.
"It's D.E.M. at C..............., (Dept Emergency Medicine)!
You might not have heard the news? there has been a pile up on the highway, the ambo's (ambulance) will be here soon, we want you in!"
It was almost twelve noon on a sunny tropical day, and my work wanted me, fast!
Thank God I'd showered after returning from a walk and run at the ocean that morning.
Thank God I wasn't still down at the beach with a ten minute run home.
I got to the hospital ready for work fifteen minutes later.
As I walked in my boss approached.
"We have one deceased already, please make her presentable for the family."
I entered the cubicle and the sight that met my eyes almost made me hit the floor.
Closing the curtain behind me I headed for the staffroom and a cup of hot tea.
This I drank with shaky hands.
What was wrong with me? I felt shocking!
Much later, I showed the family in to view their loved one.
With all the tubes and bloody disarray gone, she was presentable.
I on the other hand, without anyone knowing, was a wreck.
Burn out from a stressful work situation comes with the constant pressure.
You cope and survive for years..
Never imagining the day will arrive when you could become the patient.
Then you must assess yourself truthfully and admit the need for a good break.
I call this a sabbatical. A complete mind rest.
Getting away to peace quiet and contentment, with no pressures to perform.
A place where you can be yourself, not your title.
People who ignore their warning signals might suffer a complete breakdown.
Needed Therapy:
Get completely away, leave the trauma behind for a time or a season.
Rest, read, walk, swim, meditate on a good book, eat an adequate diet and laugh.
God's Word is a wonderful way to refresh the soul.
It is the best medicine for eternal life.
“And do not be Conformed to this world,
but be Transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2)

Mental Health
Writing on my other Blog about being transformed by the renewal of your mind, it brought to awareness illness concerning the brain.
How widely misunderstood is Mental Illness!!
And how very sad it is, both for the sufferer and their families.
I will go more indepth in future writings, however at the moment I just want to bring to attention that this is an illness of the mind, just like diabetes is an illness of the body.
It's amazing how a physical illness is accepted by the majority yet many shun someone with a mental illness.
During a research I conducted into depression in my University days, I was stunned to discover (and have never forgotten) that by the year 2020 the foremost world illness will be depression.
I'd like to share a story here.
In 2000 I was working in a large Mental Health facility when a young doctor was admitted as a patient.
This poor man was diagnosed with a disturbing mental illness...
He claimed a curse was put on him and it was sending him crazy. Along with this he was paranoid and delusional.
I was not his primary nurse so did not get to speak with him.
I did however sit in on a meeting about a month or so later, where his condition and treatment was discussed. As I listened I didn't see the label attached to him.
What I did see was a fellow Christian in torment.
Off duty that evening it was impressed on me (by the Lord), to take him a book by Dr Norman Vincent Peele called "The Power of Positive Thinking."
This was a risky thing to do, as in Mental Health units you are prohibited from speaking on Christian issues.
I placed the book in his empty room without any reference to myself.
A couple of days later he approached me at the nurses station.
He thanked me sincerely for the book? and asked if he could keep it.
Two days later, to the shock of staff, he was discharged, totally healed.
He had been transformed by the renewal of His mind.
One thing I have come to discover...from much observation.
Most people who have or do suffer from mental Illness, are very intelligent human beings.
And Mental Illness can happen to anyone.

Testosterone and the aging man.
Young and virile,
no-one is prepared for what happens with age.
Yet many are unaware what is wrong with them, so few
seek assistance.
Today only about 5% of men actually get the help they need. .
So what are the issues of having low testosterone?
How will you know?
1. A decrease in sexual desire and function.
2. Thinning bones (osteoporosis) which leads to fractures.
3. Reduction in energy, muscle strength and mood.
Often doctors don't perform blood tests to evaluate testosterone hormone levels..
Why you may ask???
Because usually its put down to, the medication you may be taking..... as far as the sexual desire..
Or, osteoporosis is not discovered until you fall and break a bone.
And Depression will be treated with medications without always checking for the root cause.
Low testosterone may also arise if:
Overweight
Have undergone chemotherapy
Experienced trauma to the testes or brain.
Or suffer from diabetes.
So what can you do if you suspect you do have low levels of this important hormone?
You ask your doctor for a blood test.
What help is there?
If you are a candidate for Testosterone Therapy then this may be given in the form of a patch worn on the skin.
Or weekly injection.
