THALASSAEMIA How Hard For The Sufferer.

Never heard of it???
Well the predominent countries are, India, Pakistan and Iran with millions of sufferers.

Thalassemia minor is an inherited form of hemolytic anemia that is less severe than thalassemia major. This blood smear from an individual with thalassemia shows small, pale, variously-shaped (poikilocytosis) red blood cells.
These small red blood cells (RBCs) are unable to carry the sufficient amount of oxygen required by normal RBCs.

Cells require oxygen (O2) to live, because O2 is what our body cells feed off.
Without O2, cells will starve and die. .

When you breath in air you get approximately 19- 21% O2 as you inhale.
Transported to your lungs it hops aboard the fresh blood's haemoglobin in RBCs pumped from your heart.
Via circulation it then gets transported all over your body to feed and revitalize billions of cells to keep you alive.

Treatment for these children is via a blood transfusion every month.

Without this treatment the sufferer would die.
And what about the children who's parents cannot afford this??

There is also a cure, but it is an expensive one, and not one that is readily  available.
The cure is a Bone Marrow Transplant,
or for some, the Stem Cells from the mother.
Yet this is not a hundred percent success.

For related bone marrow donation (generally from a brother or a sister) there is really no age limit, a bone marrow harvest can be safely performed between 6 months and 60 years of age if the donor is in good health.
It is only for unrelated (donor registries) bone marrow donation that the age limit is much narrower, generally between age 20 and 40.

Money speaks,  so donations are desperately needed.
This is a despairing disease and the sadness is.... many die.
Should the Lord place it on your heart to help then your donation would gratefully be appreciated.

Brain and Memory Booster "Glutamine"

If your memory isn’t as good as it used to be or your concentration is flagging and your mind is not so sharp.
You may be another victim of a widespread epidemic of brain drain.

While attending University this often happened to me, I'd be sitting in a lecture while my thoughts refused to focus..
No information seemed to get through.

I began to think I was one of over 4 million people beginning to suffer from age-related memory decline.
Today there is an increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease at any stage of life.

The good news is that mental decline is not inevitable and you can boost your memory and mental alertness at any age.

Research shows clearly that healthy, well-nourished and well-educated people (ha ha, we who Blog) show no signs of declining mental function with age.
Brain cells do die with age.
HOWEVER, you can also build new brain cells at any age.

How?

By feeding your brain, with the right nutrients and the right information.
So, keep that brain alert!!

Play brain games...
My mother at 93 still plays and wins at scrabble...

The cerebral cortex plays a key role in memory, attention, perceptual awareness, thought, language and consciousness.
It is divided into four main regions or lobes.
The frontal lobe is involved in conscious thought and higher mental functions such as decision-making.
The pre-frontal cortex plays an important part in processing Short-term memories and retaining Longer term memories which are not task-based.
The parietal lobe also plays a key role in the formation of long-term memory

By using Multi B vitamins and L-Glutamine or glutamine, watch that memory improve.
These can be bought in any Health Food Shop, Walmart or Supermarket.

L-Glutamine saved me during exam time at Uni, I couldn't believe how alert my brain became..
So, that's my secret shared.

*"For God has not given you a SPIRIT of FEAR!!!
But of POWER, LOVE and a SOUND MIND."

Bipolar Testimonial- Lu R Truehope

If you are being treated with medications, please keep taking these.

Bi-polar is a very misunderstood Mental Illness.
Perhaps a family member has this illness without being aware.
Or perhaps you do?
There are two sides to this illness:
The mood swings, from extreme highs to extreme lows.
Insomnia is often the first indication that an episode is pending.

1) The Euphoria Stage, where life is manic and fast.
Symptoms: Highly sexual.
Excessive spending or giving away of possessions.
Increased energy and activity level promoting insomnia.
Inappropriate humour and behaviour.
Rapid speech (pressured).
Lack of insight (everyone else has the problem).
Grandiose, they are the greatest.
Hostility and Paranoia.
Delusions and Hallucinations

2) The Depressive Stage, when all the symptoms of depression surface.
At this stage the person can be suicidal.

I believe as with many of our health problems, diet plays a huge part.
Delete sugar from all foods (honey a good replacement).
Drink water.
Breath fresh air.
Meditate on the positive.
Use cognitive behaviour therapy to replace wrong thoughts with right ones. (Before getting to the stage where lack of insight prevents this.)
Build a faith in Jesus Christ realising how much He loves you.
He laid down His life, so that you might live.
You are special, you are beloved.
Special people have Mental Illnesses...but don't make this an excuse not to receive help.

It is most often, the illness of the intelligent.
Naming a few famous Bipolar people from history.
Sir Winston Churchill
Napoleon
Vivien Leigh (Gone with the Wind)
 Florence Nightingale.
And there are many more...
