How does one get this disease??
Shingles are a a disease many of us develop, and yet, we don't realize how or why.

A good view to understanding  the Shingle process.

If you have been afflicted with the Chicken pox as a child, then you may very likely attain Shingles as an adult.
The Herpes virus remains dormant in the nerve cells of the body.
If a person's immune system runs low, they are a likely candidate to have this virus reignite.

Ages Affected?
Mostly over 50years of age.

Where is strikes!
It mainly effects the forehead and near one eye, or as a band around the body trunk.
OR... anywhere, but contained in that area.

It can cause blindness to the eye by harming the optic nerve.

                  Usually appears on the trunk, sometimes even around an arm.

Symptoms
 Day 1.  It begins with intense pain, and a burning or tingling sensation on the skin. The patient feels unwell and is not sure why? there is a beginning of pink/red marks on the skin.
Day 2.  The marks are more predominant, now looking more like a rash.
Day 3. The rash has began to have bunches of small blisters that will gradually break and weep..

Do not delay at this point  get to the nearest hospital or doctor, as fast as possible! There is a time interval when you must begin taking the specific ANTI-VIRAL medication.

This is very important, as it helps to ward off a much more serious attack and reduces the time length of infestation...
BUT....... YOU MUST GO AND GET THIS MEDICATION AS SOON AS THE THIRD DAY FOR COMPLETE EFFECT!!

How to treat
Besides the anti-viral treatment given by your doctor, make sure you commence taking B Complex vitamins as these help the central nervous system to recover.
Also apply an ointment that has a numbing effect containing an anesthetic to numb the pain, and antiseptic to stop inection...apply thickly over affected area's (ask your pharmacist) and wash hands thoroughly after use

Remember
If not properly cared for the first time. Shingles can return multiple times.
And can PAINFULLY remain for many months.
